Member of the 'Streptococcus mitis group'. Lancefield group was not determined.
Cells are nonsporulating, nonmotile, Gram-positive cocci, grouped in short chains.
Alpha-hemolytic, small (0.3-0.8 mm in diameter) colonies after 48 hour incubation.
Grows at 37 ºC. Facultatively anaerobic. Grows on Trypticase soy agar with 5% sheep
blood.
Isolated from human clinical samples  - oral cavity (tooth surface) & pharynx.
