Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,
Genus Pseudomonas,
Pseudomonas segetis  Park et al. 2006.
Gram-negative, nonspore-forming, rod-shaped cells, 1.1-1.3 x 0.7-0.8 μm, motile by
means of a polar flagellum.
Colonies on Nutrient agar are translucent, butyrous, cream-coloured, circular, convex
& 1-2 mm in diameter after 2 days growth at 30 ºC. Does not produce fluorescent
pigment on King B medium.
Aerobic, grows at temperatures between 4 and 35 ºC, but not at 37 ºC. Tolerates NaCl
at concentrations up to 5% on Nutrient agar. Grows very poorly under anaerobic
conditions (anaerobic chamber containing CO
2/H2/N2 at 10 : 10 : 80, by vol.).
Isolated from soil samples in Korea.

gluconate, glucose, arabinose, mannose, mannitol, phenylacetic acid and malate.

Negative for chitinase, CM-cellulase, DNase, beta-galactosidase, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, esculin hydrolysis,
H
2S production, urease, tryptophan deaminase, indole production, gelatinase, valine arylamidase, beta-glucosidase, cystine
arylamidase, lipase (C14), trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and
beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase, alpha-fucosidase, egg-yolk hydrolysis, L-tyrosine hydrolysis,
urease, acidification of glucose, fermentation/oxidation of glucose, mannitol, inositol, sorbitol, rhamnose, sucrose, melibiose,
amygdalin and arabinose.
No assimilation of: L-serine, inositol, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, L-arabinose, N-acetylglucosamine, maltose and adipate.
