Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae,
Genus Pseudomonas, Pseudomonas paraversuta Lick et al. 2021.
Gram-negative short rods, 1.5-2.0 µm, occurring singly, mostly in pairs, or in chains of
three or four cells. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are creamy, off-white, circular convex, smooth, around 0.5-1.0mm in
diameter after incubation at 25 ºC for 24h on Standard-I agar or Caso agar plus
glucose. Fluorescence is not produced on King B agar. Grows at 2-33 ºC (optimum,
15-27 ºC), at pH 6.0-8.0 and in the presence of 0-5.0% NaCl (optimum, 0.5-3%).
Grows on R2a and cetrimide agar, does not produce levan on Czapek yeast extract
agar and is non-haemolytic on Columbia blood agar. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from storaged mold-ripened dry-aged beef (heifer, a regional Simmental breed) at day 42 after inoculation with a noblemould
(Penicillium nalgiovense).

Positive results for acid phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, catalase, leucine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase,
oxidase, valine arylamidase, acid production (API 50 CHB/E) from: L-arabinose, D-ribose, D-xylose, D-galactose, D-mannose and
D-fucose.
Can assimilate (API 20 NE): D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, N-acetyl-glucosamine, potassium gluconate, malic acid and
trisodium citrate.
Can utilize as sole carbon source (Biolog PM1 and PM2): D-aspartic acid, D-ribose, D-xylose, L-fucose, D-galactose, L-arabinose.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, cystine arylamidase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), alpha-fucosidase, gelatinase,
alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, indole production, gelatin (bovine), lipase (C14),
4-nitrophenyl beta-D-galactopyranoside, nitrate reduction, N-acetyl beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase, trypsin,
alpha-chymotrypsin, urease, acid production from: erythritol, L-xylose, D-adonitol, methyl-beta-D-xylopyranoside, D-fructose,
L-sorbose, L-rhamnose, dulcitol, inositol, D-mannitol, D-sorbitol, methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside, methyl
