Halopseudomonas xinjiangensis
|
Description is based mostly on API 20NE, API ZYM and Biolog GN2 results.
Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), lipase (C14), leucine arylamidase,
naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, nitrate reduction, oxidase, and Tween 80 hydrolysis.
Can assimilate adipic acid.
Can utilize in Biolog GN2 plates: Tweens 40 and 80, pyruvic acid methyl ester, cis-aconitic acid and alpha-ketoglutaric acid.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, casein hydrolysis, cystine arylamidase, aesculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, gelatin
hydrolysis, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, glucose
fermentation, indole production, alpha-mannosidase, starch hydrolysis, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, urease and valine arylamidase.
No assimilation of: D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, capric acid, malic acid, maltose,
potassium gluconate, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid.
No utilization as sole carbon source of: L- and D-alanine, L-serine, methyl pyruvate, acetic acid, bromo-succinic acid and D-lactic acid.

Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative, rods, 0.9-1.8 x 0.6-0.7 µm. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Cells accumulate poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate.
Colonies are yellow. Pyocyanin on King A medium and fluorescent pigments on King
B medium are not produced. Growth occurs at 4-42 ºC (optimum 37 ºC), pH 6-9
(optimum pH 8) and at NaCl concentrations of up to 6% (optimum 1-3%).
Isolated from desert sand in Xinjiang province, China.
Undetermined.
