Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, oxidase, urease, acid production from glycerol, L-arabinose, D-xylose, galactose,
mannose and D-fucose; weak fermentation of  erythritol, D-arabinose, D-ribose, L-xylose, adonitol, glucose, fructose and melibiose.
Can assimilate: glucose, gluconate, caprate, malate, citrate, melibiose, propionate, valerate, L-serine, L-histidine, L-proline,
2-ketogluconate, 3-hydroxybutyrate, 3-hydroxybenzoate, Tween 40, Tween 80, alpha-D-glucose, methylpyruvate, cis-aconitate,
beta-hydroxybutyrate, alpha-ketoglutarate, DL-lactate, quinate, succinate, D- and L-alanine, L-alanylglycine, L-asparagine, L-aspartate,
L-glutamate, glycyl-L-glutamate, hydroxy-L-proline, L-proline, L-pyroglutamate, DL-carnitine, urocanate, inosine, putrescine,
2-aminoethanol and glycerol. Weak assimilation of: D-fructose, bromosuccinate, glycyl-L-aspartate, L-ribose, inositol, L-fucose,

Negative results for aesculin hydrolysis, beta-galactosidase, indole production, nitrate reduction, acid production from: mannitol,
N-acetylglucosamine, L-rhamnose, dulcitol, inositol, sorbitol, salicin, cellobiose, maltose, lactose, melibiose, sucrose, trehalose,
inulin, melezitose, raffinose, amygdalin, glycogen, methyl beta-D-xyloside, methyl alpha-D-glucoside, methyl alpha-D-mannoside,
arbutin, sorbose, starch, xylitol, gentiobiose, turanose, lyxose, tagatose, L-fucose and D- and L-arabitol.
No assimilation of mannose, mannitol, maltose, adipate, phenylacetate, L-rhamnose, sucrose, itaconate, suberate, malonate,

Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 0.8-0.9 x 1.9-3.1 μm. Motile by two polar flagella. Non-spore-
forming.
Colonies on nutrient agar are circular, convex, beige, translucent and usually 1.5-2.0
mm in diameter within 2 days of growth at 28 ºC. A diffusible fluorescent pigment is
produced on King’s B medium. Growth temperature range is 5-44 ºC, at pH range 5-
10 and in 0-6% NaCl in nutrient broth. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from rhizospheric soil of Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp. in Guarico, Venezuela.
