Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 0.5-0.7 x 1.0-2.0 µm. Motile by one polar flagellum.
Colonies on Luria Bertani agar are smooth, cream-coloured and after 2 weeks
the cells produce dark brown pigment that colours the agar and the colonies. Positive
for blue fluorescence on King B medium under 365nm UV light. Negative for pyocyanin
production on King A medium. Grows at temperatures between 2-39 ºC (optimum 28
ºC), at pH values 5.0-8.0 (optimum pH 6.5-7.5) and in the presence of 0-6% (w/v)
NaCl (optimum 1-3% NaCl). Aerobic.
Isolated from cornfield soil collected in Bijie, Guizhou Province, PR China.

Positive results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase  (weak), catalase, alpha-chymotrypsin, gelatin hydrolysis, esterase
(C4), esterase lipase (C8), leucine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-Bi-phosphohydrolase, oxidase and valine arylamidase.
Oxidation (API 50CH): L-arabinose, D-xylose, galactose, D-glucose, D-fructose, D-mannose, sucrose, trehalose and melibiose.
Can assimilate: D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetyl-glucosamine, potassium gluconate, capric acid, malic
acid and trisodium citrate.
Can utilize as sole carbon source: alpha-D-glucose, D-mannose, D-fructose, D-galactose, D- and L-fucose, fusidic acid,
D-fructose-6-phosphate, D- and L-serine, L-galactonic acid lactone, glucuronamide, mucic acid, quinic acid, propionic acid, acetic
acid, p-hydroxy-phenylacetic acid and citric acid.

Negative results for aesculin reduction, nitrate reduction.
No utilization of: trehalose, sucrose, melibiose, inosine, mannitol, arabitol, myo-inositol, glycerol, L-alanine, L-aspartic acid,
L-glutamic acid, L-histidine, galacturonic acid, saccharic acid, Tween 40 and formic acid.
