Gram-negative rods, 0.5-0.6 x 1.6-1.8 µm. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white-yellowish and circular (average 5 mm in diameter) after 48 h at 30
ºC. Produce fluorescent pigment on King’s B agar. Grows at temperatures between
10-35 ºC (optimum 30 ºC) and in the presence of 0-6% (w/v) NaCl. Aerobic.
Isolated from soil.  Can assimilate laminarin, a storage glucan (polysaccharide of glucose) found in brown algae.
