Genus Pseudomonas, Pseudomonas antarctica Reddy et al. 2004.
Gram-negative, motile with polar flagella, rods.
On solid medium: circular, convex, smooth and translucent colonies with a diameter
of 1-2 mm. Aerobic, psychrophilic - growth temperature 4-30 ºC (optimum 22 ºC), 48
hours. Can tolerate 3% NaCl (w/v). Optimum pH = 7. Non-haemolytic. Grows on
media: Trypticase Soy Agar ± 5% sheep blood, Antarctic Bacterial Medium (0.5%
peptone, 0.2% yeast extract and 1.5% agar at pH 6.9)..
Isolated from cyanobacterial mat samples (water) that were collected from Antarctica.
Unknown. Not pathogenic to parsley. Negative for potato soft rot.
