Grows well anaerobically at 37 ºC on MRS agar. Facultative anaerobe. Grows at 20-45
ºC (37 ºC optimum). Can grow at pH 4.0 and in 12% NaCl media.
Isolated from fermented soybean meal.
Description is based mostly on API 50 CHL and API ZYM (bioMerieux) results.
Positive results for acid phosphatase, esterase (C4), alpha- and beta-glucosidase, beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-
beta-glucosaminidase, valine aminopeptidase, cysteine aminopeptidase, leucine aminopeptidase, acid production from amygdalin,
arbutin, cellobiose, esculin, D-fructose, galactose, gentiobiose, glucose (without gas production), lactose, maltose, mannose, methyl
alpha-D-glucopyranoside, raffinose, salicin, sucrose, turanose, and trehalose.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, alpha-arabinosidase, catalase, esterase lipase (C8), lipase (C14), trypsin, alpha-
galactosidase, alpha-fucosidase, alpha-manosidase, acid production from adonitol, L- and D-arabinose, D- and L-arabitol, dulcitol,
erythritol, D- and L-fucose, gluconate, 2-ketogluconate, glycerol, glycogen inositol, inulin, D-lyxose, mannitol, melibiose, melezitose,
