Homotypic synonym: Ligilactobacillus ceti (Vela et al. 2008) Zheng et al. 2020.
Gram-positive rods (0.5 x 2.7 μm) occurring singly, in pairs and in short chains.
Nonmotile. Nonspore-forming.
Strains were isolated on Columbia blood agar plates (bioMerieux) after incubation at
37 ºC for 24 h under aerobic and anaerobic conditions: colonies are non-haemolytic,
circular, smooth, entire, 1 mm diameter. Facultatively anaerobic. Growth does not
occur on MRS agar. Grow at 15 ºC (in 5 days), 22-37 ºC (in 2 days). No growt at 4 or
41 ºC. Grow in 3% NaCl, but not in 6.5% NaCl. Range of pH: 4.0-8.0.
Isolated from the liver and lungs of stranded beaked whales (Ziphius cavirostris).
Undetermined.
