Pandoraea, Pandoraea pulmonicola Coenye et al. 2000.
Gram-negative rods, 0.5-0.7 / 1.5-4.0 μm, arranged individually or in irregular clusters.
Motile by means of a single polar flagellum. Non-spore-forming.
Growth is observed at 30, 37 and 42 ºC. Can grow on Drigalsky agar and in 0.5 or
1.5% NaCl. No growth in 3.0, 4.5 or 6.0% NaCl and 10% lactose. Grows in O/F
medium with glucose and on cetrimide agar. No fluorescence on King’s B medium.
Isolated from sputum of patients with cystic fibrosis.

No assimilation of adonitol, adipate, L-arginine, L-arabinose, fructose, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, inositol, itaconic acid, malonate,
maltose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, DL-norleucine, sorbitol, sucrose, trehalose and xylose.
