Gram-negative rods. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are mucoid. Grows on MacConkey agar and on BCSA where turn the
medium acidic. Growth is observed at 30 and 37 ºC. Variable growth at 42 ºC. Most
strains are yellow-pigmented. Non-haemolytic. Aerobic.
Isolated from sputum of cystic fibrosis patients, nosocomial infections and environmental samples.

Positive results for gelatin liquefaction, beta-galactosidase, oxidase, acid production
from: adonitol, glucose, sucrose, maltose, lactose and xylose (weak reaction).
Can assimilate glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, D-gluconate, caprate, adipate, L-malate,
citrate and phenylacetate.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, nitrate reduction, tryptophanase and urease.
No assimilation of maltose.
Variable results for esculin hydrolysis, lysine decarboxylase and ornithine decarboxylase.
