Historic synonym:
Bifidobacterium psychroaerophilum Simpson et al. 2003.
Gram-positive short and irregular rods, 0,7-1.0 / 0.8-1.5 µm with occasional bifurcations,
occurring singly or in pairs. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are convex, with smooth edges, up to 3 mm in diameter after 3 days of
anaerobic incubation at 37 ºC on mMRS agar and 1 mm under aerobic conditions.
Optimum growth temperature 37 ºC; can grow at 42, but not at 46 ºC; weak at 4 ºC.
Grows at pH 4.5-8.0. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from a pig caecum (contents and epithelium), Ireland.
Undetermined.
