Gram-positive coiled or ring shaped rods, sometimes having a ‘Y’ shape at the end.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, smooth, opaque, circular with entire edges while embedded
colonies are lens-shaped or elliptical, and reach 1-3 mm in diameter after 3 days of
anaerobic incubation on TPY agar. Grows well in TPY broth. Grows in milk under both
microaerophilic and anaerobic conditions. Growth temperature 35-46 ºC (optimum
37-42 ºC). No growth 30 or 47 ºC. Grows at pH 5.5-7.0 (optimally at pH 6.5-7.0).
Microaerophilic.
Isolated from faeces of the ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta), Italy (Parco Natura Viva).

cellobiose, esculin, D-galactose, D-glucose, glycogen, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, inositol, lactose, maltose, D-mannitol, D-mannose,
melezitose, melibiose, raffinose, D-ribose, salicin, sucrose, trehalose, and D-xylose.

Negative results for alpha-arabinosidase, catalase, cysteine arylamidase, esterase C4, esterase lipase C8, alpha-fucosidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, beta-glucuronidase, indole, oxidase, urease, valine arylamidase, acid production from D-adonitol, D-
and L-arabitol, D-arabinose, dulcitol, erythritol, D- and L-fucose, gentibiose, gluconate, glycerol, N-acetylglucosamine, inulin, D-lyxose,
