Gram-positive bifurcated and elongated cocci, 0.5-1 x 2 µm. Non-spore-forming.
Non-motile.
Colonies are white to beige, shiny, 1 mm in diameter after 2 days of incubation under
anaerobic or microaerobic conditions on MRS agar. Grows at temperature 10-40 ºC
(optimum 37 ºC; not growing at 45 ºC), pH 5.0-7.0 (not at pH 4.0 or 9.0). Anaerobic;
growth occurs on agar under microaerophilic conditions.
Isolated from the gut of a bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius), Belgium.
Commensal with alpha-haemolytic activity.

Positive results for acid phosphatase, alpha-galactosidase, beta-galactosidase, alpha-glucosidase, beta-glucosidase, leucine
arylamidase, naphtol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, acid production from amygdalin, arbutin, esculin, D-galactose, D-glucose (without gas
production), 5-ketogluconate (weak reaction), melibiose, methyl alpha-D-glucopyranoside, raffinose and salicin.

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, alanine arylamidase, cysteine arylamidase,  alpha-chymotrypsin, catalase, esterase C4,
esterase lipase C8, alpha-fucosidase, gelatinase, glycine arylamidase, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, histidine
arylamidase, lipase C14, alpha-mannosidase, oxidase, proline arylamidase, serine arylamidase, tyrosine arylamidase,  trypsin, valine
arylamidase, acid production from D-adonitol, D- and L-arabitol, L-arabinose, cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, D-fucose, L-fucose,
gluconate, glycogen, gentiobiose, glycerol, 2-ketogluconate, inositol, inulin, lactose, D-lyxose, maltose, D-mannitol, D-mannose,
melezitose, methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside, N-acetylglucosamine, rhamnose, D-ribose, L-sorbose, D-sorbitol, starch, trehalose,

Variable results for acid production from D-fructose and sucrose.
