Gram-positive rods of various shapes, forming a branched structure with a ‘Y’ shape
at both sides. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, smooth, opaque, 1.0-2.0 mm in diameter after 3 days of
anaerobic incubation on TPY agar. Non-haemolytic. Can grow at 25-46 ºC,  not at 20
ºC; optimally at 37 ºC. Grows at pH 5.5- 7.0, optimally at pH 6.5. Can grow under
aerophilic and microaerophilic conditions.
Isolated from the faeces of an adult of the two toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus).

arylamidase, acid production from amygdalin, L- and D-arabinose, arbutin, cellobiose, D-fructose, D-galactose, gentibiose, D-glucose,
lactose, maltose, D-mannose, melezitose, melibiose, methyl alpha-D-manopyranoside, methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside, raffinose,
D-ribose, salicin (weak) and starch.

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, alpha-arabinosidase, catalase, aesculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, beta-glucuronidase,
glycine arylamidase, indole production, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, nitrates reduction, oxidase, urease, acid production from
