Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, spore-forming, short rods, 0.8 x 2.5 µm. Motile.
Colonies are creamy, smooth and circular on GYEA media agar after 72 h incubation
at 30 ºC. Growth occurs at 4-45 ºC (optimum 30 ºC), pH 4.5-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and
0-15% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 5%). Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from sea sand from Jeju island, Republic of Korea.

Positive results for catalase, casein hydrolysis, oxidase, acid production from: ribose, glucose, fructose, rhamnose, arbutin, aesculin,
salicin, sucrose and D-tagatose.

Negative results for starch hydrolysis, acid production from: glycerol, D-arabinose, D-xylose, galactose, mannose, mannitol or
raffinose.
