Old synonym:
Bacillus pestifer Frankland and Frankland 1887.
Gram-negative rods, 0.4-0.7 x 0.9-1.5 µm. Motile.
Colonies are low convex, translucent and non-pigmented, with smooth margins and
1-1.5 mm in diameter after 48h incubation on trypticase soy agar at 28 ºC. Grows on,
blood agar, Drigalsky agar and on acetamide. No growth on cetrimide agar.
Nonhaemolytic. Can grow in 3% and 4.5% NaCl. No growth at 42 ºC. No fluorescence
on King’s B medium.
Isolated from oil-brine, dust and air samples.
Undetermined.
