Gram-positive straight or slightly curved, non-branching, slender rods.
Non-spore-forming.
Growth, after incubation in 5% CO2 atmosphere, on 5% horse blood Columbia (Difco)
agar. Alpha-haemolytic. Facultative anaerobic. Grows at 37 ºC.
Isolated from dead sallow deer and harbour porpoise. Habitat is not known.
Isolated from a lung abscess of a dead sallow deer and from the spleen of a dead harbour porpoise.

Non-acid-fast.

Positive results for alanine phenylalanine proline arylamidase, catalase, esculin hydrolysis (weak reaction), beta-glucuronidase, gelatin
hydrolysis, hippurate hydrolysis, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, acid production from: D-glucose and D-ribose.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, alkaline phosphatase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase,
beta-mannosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, nitrate reduction, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from: L-arabinose,
D-arabitol,  cyclodextrin, glycogen, lactose, mannitol, melezitose, melibiose, pullulan, D-raffinose, sorbitol, sucrose, tagatose, trehalose
and D-xylose.

Variable results for pyrazinamidase and acid production from maltose.
