Description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 1-2 / 0.5 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Facultative anaerobic. Grows at 37 ºC. A weak zone of haemolysis after 48 hours of
incubation in microaerobic conditions on sheep blood agar. CAMP-like reaction is
positive (with Rhodococcus equi as indicator). Reverse CAMP reaction is negative.
Isolated from otitis externa of a 7 year old, female, English bulldog.

Positive results for alkaline phosphatase, DN-ase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase,
alpha-mannosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, starch hydrolysis, acid production from: D-glucose, glycogen, lactose, maltose,
mannose, raffinose, D-ribose & sucrose.
Negative results for casein hydrolysis, catalase, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, beta-glucosidase, hyaluronidase, indole
production, nitrate reduction, oxidase, pyrazinamidase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, urease, acid production from mannitol & D-xylose.
