Gram-positive short rods, 0.5-0.8 / 1.0-1.3 µm. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are grey-white, shiny, less than 1 mm diameter and non-haemolytic on BHI
sheep blood agar after 48 h in air plus 5% CO
2 at 37 ºC. Non-haemolytic. Facultative
anaerobic. Grows optimally at: ph 6-7 and 1% NaCl.
Isolated from rectal swab samples of Old World vultures, Gyps himalayensis, in Tibet.

raffinose, sucrose, trehalose and turanose.

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, chymotrypsin, alpha-fucosidase alpha-galactosidase, gelatin hydrolysis,
beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, lipase C14, alpha- and beta-mannosidase, oxidase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase,
trypsin, valine arylamidase, acid production from: amygdalin, D-arabinose, arbutin, cellobiose, esculin, fucose, gentibiose, glycogen,
glycerol, methyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside, potassium gluconate, potassium 5-ketogluconate, inulin, mannitol, pullulan, ribose, salicin,
