Actinomyces, Actinomyces timonensis Renvoise, Raoult and Roux 2010.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive straight rods, 1.0-3.2 / 0.3-0.5 µm.
Colonies are white, dry, pinpoint and embedded in the agar supplemented with 5%
sheep blood after 48 h anaerobic incubation at 37 ºC. Grow in trypticase soy broth
anaerobically, but also grew under microaerophilic conditions and in 5% CO2, and
weakly (after 48 h) in the presence of air. Alpha-haemolytic after 48 h of incubation.
Growth range is 25-37 ºC (37 ºC optimum).
Isolated from a human clinical osteo-articular sample (sacroiliitis).
Susceptible to amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cefotetan, imipenem, penicillin G and vancomycin.
Isolated from a human clinical osteo-articular sample (sacroiliitis).
