Actinomyces howellii Dent and Williams 1984.
Gram-positive rods, 1.5-5.0 x 0.8 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on horse blood agar are  white, convex, smooth, shiny, translucent, up to 2
mm in diameter after 3-5 days of anaerobic incubation at 37 ºC. Facultative anaerobic.
Liquid media: CO
2 stimulates growth.
Isolated from the dental plaque of dairy cattle.
