Gram-positive slender, straight to slightly curved rods, some of which exhibit
branching. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming. Non-acid-fast.
Colonies are small (< 1 mm in diameter after 24 h), grey and non-haemolytic on
Columbia agar (Difco) supplemented with 5% horse blood in air plus 5% CO
2, at 37
ºC. Facultative anaerobic.
Isolated from human clinical specimens. Habitat is not known.
Undetermined.

Description is based mostly on API CORYNE (3530761/0130761), API ZYM, and
API rapid ID32Strep results.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, cystine arylamidase (weak reaction), alpha-glucosidase, hippurate hydrolysis,
leucine arylamidase, acid production from: D-glucose, sucrose (saccharose) and D-xylose.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, chymotrypsin, esculin hydrolysis, esterase C4, ester lipase C8, alpha-fucosidase,
alpha-galactosidase, beta-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, gelatin hydrolysis, lipase C14, alpha-mannosidase, pyrrolidonyl
arylamidase, trypsin, urease, valine arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from: L-arabinose, D-arabitol, cyclodextrin,
glycogen, methyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside, mannitol, melezitose, melibiose, pullulan, raffinose, sorbitol, tagatose and trehalose.

Variable results for beta-galactosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, nitrate reduction, pyrazinamidase, acid production from:
lactose, maltose and ribose.
