Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive filamentous, beaded rods. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Non-acid-fast.
Colonies are tiny, white, breadcrumb-like on Fastidious Anaerobic Agar with 5%
horse blood after 48 hours of anaerobic incubation and pit the agar. Anaerobic.

Most results are based on API CORYNE, API rapid ID32Strep and API rapid ID32A.
Positive results for esculin hydrolysis, alpha-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, leucine arylamidase, acid production from:
cellobiose, fructose, D-glucose, lactose (weak reaction), maltose, mannose, melibiose, raffinose, sucrose and trehalose.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, catalase, alpha-fucosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, beta-glucuronidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, hippurate hydrolysis, indole production, nitrate reduction, pyrazinamidase, starch hydrolysis, urease,
Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from: L-arabinose, D-arabitol, cyclodextrin, methyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside, glycogen,
mannitol, melezitose, pullulan, ribose, sorbitol, tagatose and D-xylose.
