Gram-positive straight and slightly curved rods, some of which with branching; 2.0-4.0
µm  in length. Non-motile. Non-acid-fast.
Colonies are greyish-white, 2 mm in diameter after 24-48 h of aerobic incubation on
sheep blood agar. CO
2 enrichment or anaerobiosis do not enhance growth. Grows at
37 ºC. Non-haemolytic. Facultative anaerobic.
Habitat is not known. Isolated from canine and feline clinical specimens.
Isolated from canine and feline clinical specimens (abscess, pleural fluid).

Description is based mostly on API CORYNE and API ZYM results.

Positive results for acid phosphatase, catalase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucosidase, leucine
arylamidase, nitrate reduction, acid production from: D-glucose, lactose, maltose, melezitose, melibiose,
methyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside, raffinose, ribose, sucrose (saccharose) and trehalose.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, cystine arylamidase, chymotrypsin, esterase C4, ester lipase C8, alpha-fucosidase, gelatin
hydrolysis, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, hippurate hydrolysis, lipase C14, alpha-mannosidase, trypsin,
urease, valine arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from: L-arabinose, D-arabitol, mannitol, sorbitol and xylose.

Variable results for alkaline phosphatase, alpha-glucosidase, pyrazinamidase, acid production from tagatose.
