Phylum Proteobacteria, Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Vibrionales, Family Vibrionaceae, Genus Vibrio, Vibrio xuii  Thompson et
al. 2003. Historical synonym: FAFLP group A8 Thompson, Hoste, Vandemeulebroecke & Swings, 2001.
Gram-negative, slightly curved cells, 1 x 2-3 µm, motile by at least one polar flagellum.
Colonies on TSA are translucent, not swarming, convex, smooth, rounded, beige,
2.5-3 mm in diameter after 48 h at 28 ºC. Colonies are yellow, transparent, umbonate,
round with scalloped margins, wavy, shiny, 2  mm in diameter on TCBS agar after 24
h at 28 ºC. Can grow in nutrient broth with: 2.5-8% NaCl. No growth in 0% NaCl & 10%
NaCl. Optimal growth at  30-35 ºC. No growth at 4 ºC or 40 ºC. Facultative anaerobe.
No luminescence produced.
Isolated from shrimp culture water in China, white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei and from larvae of the bivalve Nodipecten nodosus
Sensitive to vibriostatic agent O/129, resistant to Kanamycin.
Unknown.
