Gram-negative, curved bacilli, motile by at least one polar  flagellum.
Colonies on TCBS agar are bright-yellow, non-swarming on TSA. Non-luminescent.
Can grow in nutrient broth with: 0.35 to 9% NaCl. No growth in 0% or 10% NaCl.
Growth occurs at  15 & 35 ºC, variable at 40 ºC. No growth at  4 or 45 ºC.
Isolated from cultured spotted rose snappers (Lutjanus guttatus), from the liver, spleen, kidney and from external lesions,in Sinaloa
state, Mexico. Sensible to O/129 vibriostatic agent.

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, nitrate reduction, methyl red, tryptophan
deaminase, ONPG, casein hydrolysis, starch hydrolysis, fermentation of D-glucose
without gas formation.

Negative results for lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, indole production, H
2S production, urease, Voges-Proskauer test
& utilisation of citrate.
