Historical synonyms: FAFLP group A47 Thompson, Hoste, Vandemeulebroecke and Swings, 2001.
Gram-negative, rod-shaped cells, motile with polar flagella.
Can grow in nutrient broth with1.5 - 8% NaCl. No growth in 0% or 10% NaCl. Growth
occur at 4-35 ºC. No growth at 40 ºC.
Colonies on Marine agar are translucent, non-swarming, smooth, non-pigmented.
Colonies on TCBS agar are yellow bright, translucent, round, 1.5-2.8 mm in diameter.
No luminescence produced. Not swarming.
Isolated from healthy shrimp larvae (Penaeus chinensis) in China, sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) in Spain and from Atlantic salmon
(
Salmo salar) in Tasmania.
Resistant to vibriostatic agent O/129, Gentamicin, Kanamycin & Streptomycin.
The strain LMG 13245 is pathogenic for Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar).
