Thompson et al. 2003. Historical synonym: FAFLP group A5 Thompson, Hoste, Vandemeulebroecke and Swings, 2001.
Gram-negative, slightly curved cells, 1 x 2.3 - 3 µm, motile by at least one polar
flagellum.
Colonies on TSA are translucent, non-swarming, convex, smooth, rounded, beige, 3
mm in diameter after 48 h at 28 ºC. Colonies are yellow, transparent, umbonate,
round, smooth, shiny, 2-3 mm in diameter on TCBS agar after 24 h at 28 ºC.
Can grow in nutrient broth with:2.5% NaCl. No growth in 0% NaCl, 8% NaCl & 10%
NaCl. Optimal growth at 30 -35 ºC. No growth at 4 ºC or 40 ºC. Facultative anaerobe.
Luminescence is not produced.
Isolated from larvae of the bivalve Nodipecten nodosus in Brasil, culture water of rotifers, rotifer in recirculation system (Brachionus
plicatilis), gut of turbot larvae (Scophthalmus maximus), diseased bivalve larvae (Nodipecten nodosus), healthy rotifer (Brachionus
plicatilis).
Sensitive to vibriostatic agent O/129, resistant to Kanamycin and Ampicillin.
The strain LMG 20615 was isolated from diseased bivalve larvae (Nodipecten nodosus).

aquaculture environment (bivalves, fish, rotifers and shrimps). IJSEM 53, 245-252.
