Historical synonyms: FAFLP (fluorescent amplified fragment length polymorphism)
clusters A26 Thompson, Hoste, Vandemeulebroecke & Swings, 2001.
Gram-negative,slightly curved cells, 1 x 2-3 µm. Motile.
Colonies on TSA  are smooth, beige, convex, translucent to opaque, not swarming, 6
mm in diameter after 48 hours incubation at 28 ºC.
Strains form yellow and/or  green, translucent colonies  on TCBS agar
Facultatively anaerobic.
Can grow in nutrient broth with: 0%  to 8% NaCl. Growth temperature 4 to 35 ºC.
Isolated from the hepatopancreas of wild healthy adults of white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in Ecuador.
Susceptible to O/129 vibriostatic agent.
May have probiotic properties for Litopenaeus vannamei under culture conditions.
The type strain, LMG 20362T, showed high levels of colonization in the hepatopancreas of
L. vannamei and out-competed and
excluded the shrimp pathogen
Vibrio harvey; this strain seems to enhance the health and weight of shrimps, also.
