Gram-negative, rod-shaped, 1.7 x 0.7μm. Motile by two polar flagella.
Colonies are smooth, white to cream-coloured, opaque, 2-4 mm in diameter (2 days /
28 ºC). Growth temperature 4-35 ºC, optimum 28 ºC.
Grow on TSA supplemented with 1.5% NaCl, TCBS agar (producing blue colonies).
Growth in nutrient broth with 1 to 8% NaCl (1.5% NaCl optimum), NaCl is not
essential for growth; pH range 5-8.5 (optimum pH 7).
Aerobic or facultatively anaerobic, non-luminescent , chemo-organotrophic,
halotolerant and mesophilic.
Isolated from water collected from a subterranean saline lake in Mallorca, Spain (from a depth of 10 cm).
Shows sensitivity to the vibriostatic agent O/129 and is novobiocin-positive.
Unknown (none).
