Photobacterium ganghwense Park, Baik, Seong, Bae, Kim and Chun, 2006.
Gram-negative, oval or rod-shaped cells, 0.8-1.2 x 1.3-2.0 μm. Motile by a polar
flagellum.
Colonies are smooth, slightly cream-coloured, opaque, convex, 3 mm in diameter (3
days / 30 ºC). Growth temperature 10-45 ºC, optimum 35 ºC. No growth at 4 ºC.
Grow on marine agar 2216E Becton Dickinson, TCBS agar (producing green
colonies); unable to grow in the absence of Na+. Growth in nutrient broth with 1 to 7%
NaCl (2% NaCl optimum); pH range 5-11 (optimum pH 8-9). Facultative anaerobe,
luminescent, halophilic.
Isolated from sea water from Ganghwa Island, South Korea.
Unknown (none).
