Vela et al. 2011.
Reacts with Lancefield group D antiserum.
Gram-positive, 0.7-1.0 μm, cocci grouped in pairs or chains (7-10 cells long). Non-
spore-forming. Nonmotile.
Colonies on Columbia agar containing 5 % defibrinated sheep blood are small,
circular and non-pigmented, 0.75-1.0 mm in diameter and alpha-haemolytic at 37 ºC.
Facultatively anaerobic. Grows at 22-42 ºC but do not grow at 15 ºC. Growth occurs at
pH 9.6 and in the presence of 3% NaCl but not in broth containing 4.5% or 6.5% NaCl.
Isolated from a Pyrenean chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica).
The type strain was isolated from the liver of a chamois with septicaemia.
