Gram-positive cocci, 0.4-0.6 μm in diameter, occuring singly, in pairs, tetrads or
clumps. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming. Capsule is present.
Colonies are white, circular, smooth and convex, 1-2 mm in diameter after 3 days of
incubation at 28 ºC on Marine Agar, with no diffusible pigment production. Strictly
aerobic. Moderately halophilic; Growth occurs in media containing 0-25% NaCl;
optimum 3% NaCl.  Grows at 16-42 ºC; optimal growth at 28 ºC. Grows in pH 6.0-10.5;
optimum pH 8.5.
Isolated from a seawater sample collected from coastal seawater of Qingdao, east China, during a bloom of the green alga
Enteromorpha prolifera.
Susceptible to midecamycin (30 μg), ofloxacin (5 μg), ciprofloxacin (5 μg), vancomycin (30 μg), furazolidone (300 μg), chloromycetin (30
μg), clindamycin (2 μg), cefobid (30 μg), amikacin (30 μg), vibramycin (30 μg), minocycline (30 μg), erythromycin (15 μg), penicillin (10
μg), oxacillin (1 μg), ampicillin (10 μg), carbenicillin (100 μg), piperacillin (100 μg), cephalothin IV (30 μg), cephalothin V (30 μg),
cephalothin VI (30 μg) & rocephin (30 μg).
Resistant to norfloxacin (10 μg), polymyxin B (100 U), compound sulfamethoxazole (75 μg), gentamicin (10 μg), kanamycin (30 μg),
neomycin (10 μg), tetracycline (30 μg) and fortum (30 μg).
