Gram-positive cocci, 0.4-0.8 μm diameter. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, circular, of low convexity and with clear margins, 0.5-1.0 mm in
size after 2 days incubation on Luria-Bertani agar. Optimal growth occurs at 28-37 ºC;
no growth occurs below 4 ºC or above 43 ºC. Optimal pH for growth is 6.5-10.0; no
growth is observed below pH 4.5. Optimal growth in 3-8% NaCl (range 0-23% NaCl).
Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from a seaside soil sample from Shandong Province, China.
