Gallibacterium trehalosifermentans Bisgaard, Korczak, Busse, Kuhnert, Bojesen and Christensen 2009.
Synonym: Bisgaard Taxon 2/3, 1982.
Gram-negative, usually bipolar, nonmotile cocobacilli, occuring singly or in pairs.
Colonies on bovine-blood agar are non-haemolytic, greyish, non-transparent ,
smooth and shiny, circular, slightly raised with entire margin and 1-2 mm in diameter
after 24-48 h at 37 ºC; adherence to the agar is absent and the consistency of the
colonies is unguent-like. Facultative anaerobic or microaerophilic. Pigment is not
formed. No V-factor requirement. No growth on MacConkey..
Isolated from septicaemia in budgerigars.
Negative in symbiotic growth.
Associated with septicaemia in budgerigars.
