Synonym: Bisgaard Taxon 3 (two strains from).
Gram-negative rod-shaped or pleomorphic cells, usually bipolar, occur singly or in
pairs. Non-motile.
Colonies on bovine-blood agar are are non-haemolytic, greyish, non-transparent ,
smooth and shiny, circular, slightly raised with entire margin and 1-2 mm in diameter
after 24 h at 37 ºC. Adherence to the agar is absent and the consistency of the
colonies is unguent-like. Facultative anaerobic or microaerophilic. Pigment is not
formed. No V-factor requirement. Growth on MacConkey is positive.
Isolated from partridges and pheasants.
Negative in symbiotic growth.
Isolated from pheasant  with pneumonia.
