Synonyms: (some strains from) Bisgaard Taxon 3, Bisgaard taxon 2.
Gram-negative, usually bipolar, nonmotile cocobacilli, occuring singly or in pairs.
Colonies on bovine-blood agar are non-haemolytic, greyish, non-transparent ,
smooth and shiny, circular, slightly raised with entire margin and 1-2 mm in diameter
after 24 h at 37 ºC; adherence to the agar is absent and the consistency of the
colonies is unguent-like. Facultative anaerobic or microaerophilic. Pigment is not
formed. No V-factor requirement. Growth on MacConkey is variable.
Isolated from septicaemia of pigeon, duck, turkey, budgerigars, from pneumonia of
pigeon, rhinitis of parakeet and  from salpingitis of duck.
Admin note: one strain was isolated from a pigeon oro-pharyngeal exudate.
Associated  wirh septicaemia. salpingitis, and respiratory disease in birds.
