Species "Incertae Sedis“; the species was excluded from the genus Pasteurella by DNA-DNA hybridization (Mutters et al., 1985a) and

Coccobacillary, Gram-negative cells.
Colonies are nonhemolytic and V-factor independent.
Growth on MacConkey is positive.
Original isolates obtained from pigs feces. Occasionally isolated from rabbits and Guinea pigs.
Few cases of human infections were cited (most important from Guinea pig bites).

Variable results for L(+) rhamnose, ONPG, D(+) melibiose, and raffinose.
