Acid-fast rods. Gram-positive. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on GYEA, Bennett’s agar and nutrient agar are smooth, entire, bright
orange, scotochromogenic, and appear after 2 days incubation. Growth on
Lowenstein–Jensen agar is moderate. Grows at 4-37 ºC; no growth was recorded at
45 or 52 ºC. Growth occurs in the presence of 7.0% NaCl. No growth on MacConkey
agar.
Undetermined.
Isolated from pond water near a uranium mine in Salamanca, Spain.
Susceptible to ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, neomycin and oxytetracycline. Resistant to ampicillin, cefuroxime, cloxacillin,
erythromycin, penicillin and polymyxin.
