Acid-alcohol-fast rods. Gram-positive.
Colonies after growth on Middelbrook 7H10, proteose peptone-meat extract-glycerol
and Lowenstein-Jensen media following incubation for 5 days at 28 ºC are
nonchromogenic. Grows between 25 and 28 ºC, optimally at 28 ºC and at pH 7.
moderate growth was observed at 20, 25 and 37 ºC.  No growth at 4, 15, 42, or 45 ºC
.
Strict aerobe. Grows in the presence of potassium tellurite and up to 8% NaCl.
Isolated from marine sediment from the Republic of Palau.
Undetermined.

and Mycobacterium palauense sp. nov., rapidly growing actinobacteria. Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek 2018; 111:1209-1223.
Positive results for arylsulfatase (3 and 14 days), catalase,  niacin, nitrate reductase, and Tween 80 hydrolysis.
Can utilize citric acid.

Negative results for thermostable catalase (68 ºC) and urease.
No utilization of
D- and L-malic acid. Nouioui's paper contains more utilization substrates in GEN III Biolog system.
