Acid-fast rods. Non-motile. Spores, cords or filaments are not produced.
Colonies are creamy white, rough and non-pigmented. Grows to maturity in 3 days at
30 ºC and in 4 days at 25 ºC on Middelbrook 7H11 and TSA media. No growth at 37 or
42 ºC. The optimal temperature for growth is 30 ºC. No growth in the presence of 10%
CO2.
Undetermined.
Isolated from a water sample collected from the Montmartre unit of the Paris water distribution system, France.

Positive results for catalase (22 ºC), arylsulfatase (3 days), Tween 80 hydrolysis.
Negative results for thermostable catalase (68 ºC), niacin production, iron uptake and
urease.
Variable results for nitrate reduction.
