Old synonym (not valid): "Mycobacterium komanii" Gcebe et al. 2016.
Acid-fast rods.
Colonies form a yellow pigment in the dark, and grow on Lowenstein-Jensen slants
supplemented with PACT (polymyxin B, amphotericin B, carbenicillin and
trimethoprim), and on Middlebrook 7H11 at 25, 37 and 45 ºC (optimally at 37 ºC),
within 2-5 days. No growth in 5% (w/v) NaCl.
Isolated from bovine nasal swab, water and soil samples in South Africa.
Resistant to imipenem, tobramycin, cefoxitin and amoxylin. Susceptible to ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin and doxycycline.
Undetermined.

Positive results for arylsulfatase (14 days), niacin accumulation, nitrate reductase, pyrazinamidase, Tween 80 hydrolysis, and urease.

Negative results for arylsulfatase (3 days) and esculin hydrolysis.
No utilization of citrate, D-mannitol, inositol, L-rhamnose or L-arabinose.

Variable results for semiquantitative catalase test  (>45 mm foam).
