Acid-alcohol-fast, short rods. Non-motile.
Colonies are smooth and unpigmentated. Growth is obtained in Lowenstein-Jensen
in 3-4 weeks at 30-37 ºC. No growth at 45 ºC. No growth on MacConkey agar without
crystal violet.
Undetermined. Isolated from a patient with pulmonary disease.
Isolated from sputum samples of a patient from the north-eastern Ceara state in Brazil.
Resistant to thiophene-2-carboxylic hydrazide (5μg/ml), hydroxylamine (500 μg/ml), and paranitrobenzoic acid (500 μg/ml).
Susceptible to clarithromycin, ethambutol, amikacin, linezolid, ciprofloxacin, streptomycin, doxicyclin, moxicyclin, rifampicin and
sulfamethoxazole.

Positive results for thermostable catalase (68 ºC) and  tellurite reduction.

Negative results for arylsulfatase (3 days), semi-quantitative catalase (> 45mm), niacin accumulation, nitrate reduction, Tween 80
hydrolysis, and urease.
