Acid-fast rods.
Colonies on egg media and on Middlebrook 7H11 agar are small, dysgonic and
scotochromogenic, and produce yellow pigment. Visible growth from diluted inocula
requires 5-8 weeks. Growth occurs at 37-50 ºC. Does not grow at 30 ºC and dysgonic
growth at 50 ºC. No growth in media supplemented with 5% (w/v) NaCl.
Isolated from stream water that had a high organic matter content and low pH and drained a peat land area.
Undetermined (saprophytic).

Positive results  for arylsulfatase (10 days) and pyrazinamidase.

Negative results for arylsulfatase (3 days), nitrate reductase, semi-quantitative catalase, heat-stable catalase (68 ºC), acid
phosphatase, beta-galactosidase, Tween 80  hydrolysis (10 days) and urease.
