Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, short to long rods (0.5–1.0 x 2.0–20.0 μm) occurring singly, in pairs
and in chains. Nonspore-forming. Nonmotile.
Colonies on MRS agar after 2 days incubation at 37 ºC are 2.0 mm in diameter,
circular to slightly irregular, convex, opaque, white and rough. Facultatively anaerobic.
Can grow at 30 and 45 ºC, but not at 15 or 50 ºC. Can grow in 2% and 5% NaCl. No
growth in 7% NaCl. Can grow in pH 4.0-8.0.
Isolated from silage cattle feed.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase (weak reactions), alpha-glucosidase (weak reaction), beta-glucosidase, beta-
galactosidase (weak reaction), beta-glucuronidase (weak reaction), leucine arylamidase (weak reaction), fermentation of: esculin,
fructose, galactose, gentiobiose, glucose (acid production without gas), lactose, maltose, mannose, sucrose, starch and trehalose.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), lipase (C14), alpha-fucosidase, alpha-
galactosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, indole production, lysine decarboxylase, alpha-manosidase, nitrate reduction,
ornithine decarboxylase, oxidase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, urease, valine arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer test, fermentation of: N-
acetylglucosamine, D-adonitol, amygdalin, D- or L-arabinose, D- or L-arabitol, arbutin, cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, D- or L-fucose,
gluconate, 2- or 5-ketogluconate, glycerol, glycogen, inulin, inositol, D-lyxose, mannitol, melezitose, melibiose, raffinose, rhamnose,
ribose, salicin, sorbitol, sorbose, tagatose, turanose, xylitol, D- and L-xylose.
