Synonyms: Companilactobacillus metriopterae (Chiba et al. 2018) Zheng et al. 2020; Lactobacillus terrae Kim et al. 2018.
Gram-positive rods, 0.2-0.5 x 0.6-3 µm, occurring singly, in pairs or in short chains.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are yellowish or white, smooth, convex, 1 mm in diameter after 3 days of
incubation at 30 ºC on mMRS agar. Can grow at 15-37 ºC ; no growth at 10 ºC; weak
growth at 45 ºC. Grows in 7% NaCl media; weakly in 7.5% NaCl. Grows at pH 4.0-8.0.
Facultative anaerobic.
Isolated from the gut of the grasshopper Metrioptera engelhardti, Japan and from a soil sample, Korea.

erythritol, D- and L-fucose, glycerol, glycogen, gluconate, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, inositol, inulin, D-lactose, D-lyxose, maltose,
