Gram-positive short rods with square ends, 0.5 / 2.6 µm, occurring in chains.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are shiny, translucent, 0.5 mm in diameter after 2 days at 37 ºC on MRS
agar under 5% CO
2. Grows at 25-45 ºC (optimum 37 ºC), pH 5-8 (optimum  pH 6-7),
and NaCl 0-5%. Facultative anaerobic.
Isolated from human intestine.
Undetermined.
Homofermentative.
Description is based mostly on API 50 CHL and API ZYM (bioMerieux) results.

Positive results for acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase (weak reaction), alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha-glucosidase
