Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 0.8 x 1.5-2.0 µm, occuring singly, in pairs and rarely in chains.
Colonies on MRS agar are white, sticky, convex, circular to slightly irregular and 1-2
mm in diameter after 48 h at 30 ºC under anaerobic conditions. Non-haemolytic.
Facultative anaerobe. Grows at temperature range 15-40 ºC (optimally at 30 ºC). Can
grow at pH 4.0-10.0 and in 1-5% NaCl. Weak growth in 6.0% NaCl or at pH 3.0.
Isolated from traditional fermented ma bamboo shoot products in Taiwan.
